Howdy!
I’m a designer from Mersin, Turkey
— currently moving pixels at YouTube in San Francisco, CA.
Most recently, I’ve been reimagining the future of Live TV at YouTube TV — designing on web, mobile
and TV. My design focus consists of interaction design, system & visual design. I studied Graphic Design at MICA so my past work involves print collaterals,
branding, typography, 3D,
and motion design.
I love experimenting and learning professionally and in my personal life. In my free time, I like exploring the city with my dog charlie,
going to concerts or picnics with friends, picking up a new hobby like dj’ing, woodworking, nail art,
or relaxing in my room and staring at my plants.

Overview
The multi-view feature was first designed for our TV platform. It allows for watching up to 4 streams at once with many curated & custom options
This feature received amazing reactions from our users, especially for the avid sports watchers during the NFL season
However, we discovered users really prefer not missing any second of any of their games... therefore would like this feature on their on the go devices like phones & tablets.
The challengeAllow users to watch multiple streams at once, on the go
Brainstorm
To ensure consistency for users transitioning from TV, I reviewed the TV's interaction and design choices before starting on the mobile version, aiming for a familiar experience.
Wireframes Keeping TV in consideration, I explored how multi view can scale to mobile and looked into possible interaction patterns that can work
Prototype
Decided to test on tablet because we predict the tablet usage would be higher than mobile. Using the mocks & prototypes I’ve created, our engineer built our initial designs to test with users.
User research Keeping TV in consideration, I explored how multi view can scale to mobile and looked into possible interaction patterns that can work
The Interaction
We included two ways of switching audios. Double tapping was harder to discover, so we kept it as a hidden feature for users that discover it.
For our primary mode selecting streams, users can bring out the player controls and tap on any of the videos which have faint outline as a nudge.
The Impact
This project has made a substantial impact and garnered widespread popularity by users since its launch, thanks to the tremendous effort of our entire team. It involved collaboration across multiple teams and partners, and the results have been truly inspiring.
The new interaction model used in this feature has also inspired the YouTube Main team and the collaboration during the process created and example on how we can work on shared features between YouTube and YouTube TV.
